Efforts have been made to develop a vaccine against the coronavirus since the epidemic spread around the world. Scientists are working day and night to develop effective and safe vaccines and treatments. Several potential vaccine inventions have already been demanded in different parts of the world. Some of these potential vaccines are being tested on humans. None of these ticks are likely to come out very recently. But Russian scientists say they are hopeful the corona vaccine will be available within a month.
The Moscow-based English-language online news outlet The Moscow Times reported on Monday. The world's first coronavirus vaccine will be administered to patients next month, according to Russian scientists. Earlier, a medical university in Moscow said it had successfully administered the vaccine to volunteers.
The World Health Organization's website lists a number of vaccine initiatives around the world. As of last week, the list contained information on 160 initiatives. According to the list, 21 vaccines have reached the stage of clinical trials in humans. And 139 remain in the pre-experimental stage. Of the 21 vaccines in the clinical trial, one was from Oxford, UK. The British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca is with the study from Oxford University. They said they were hopeful of getting the vaccine by next October. The Oxford vaccine and the Sinovec vaccine in China are in the third stage of the clinical trial. At this stage, the effectiveness of the vaccine is tested on a large number of people. The remaining 19 vaccines in the clinical trial are in the first or second stage. And in the pre-clinical trial, there are vaccines of two institutes of India, Serum Institute of India and Indian Immunological Limited.
In addition, the German biotechnology company Bio n Tech and Pfizer Inc., a New York-based pharmaceutical company in the United States, are working together to develop the vaccine. They say they are optimistic about vaccine production by the end of this year if all goes well.
Russia's potential vaccine was invented by the state-run Gamali National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, The Moscow Times reported. The Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University in Moscow began administering the potential vaccine to 36 volunteers last June. At the same time, the Russian military conducted a two-month test of the same vaccine.
Alexander Gintzberg, head of the Gamali Center, told state news agency Tas that he hoped the potential vaccine would be available for public use between August 12-14. However, the private sector will be able to start mass production by September.
Yelena Smoliarchuk, head of the Clinical Research Center at Sechenov University, said the study was over. The vaccine has been shown to be safe. After keeping the Sechenov University volunteers in isolation for 28 days, one team is scheduled to leave on Wednesday and the other next Monday, he said. The age of the volunteers was between 18 and 65 years. They will be monitored for the next six months.
