Many more could die, Biden warned

18 November 2020

US President-elect Joe Biden warns of dire consequences if Donald Trump and his administration refuse to coordinate with his transition team on the coronavirus epidemic and block briefings on national security, policy issues and vaccine plans .

This was Biden's toughest message so far about his refusal to accept defeat in the presidential election and Trump's non-cooperation in the peaceful transfer of power.

"More people could die if we don't coordinate," Biden told reporters at a news conference in Wilmington, Delaware, on Monday.

Biden and his allies and a small but growing group of Republicans have stressed the importance of informing everyone about the White House's efforts to control the epidemic and distribute potential vaccines.

While the Trump administration has said it will work on its own distribution plan, Biden's chief of staff has indicated that his transition team will move forward with their own plans because of the obstacles.

Sen. "It's very important that the president-elect and his party have full access to the ongoing plan to distribute the vaccine," said Susan Collins, R-Mine

“Distributing vaccines is not an easy task,” Collins said. That's why the Trump administration should share its plans with the new administration on public health issues, and that's absolutely essential. "

Mutual cooperation between the winning and losing candidates in the presidential election and the administration has traditionally been a key element in the peaceful transfer of power in the United States. However, this election was significant because of the coronavirus epidemic, which is growing dramatically.

Biden said the distribution of the coronavirus vaccine was a "big initiative" and that if his party had to wait until it took office to look into the government's distribution plan, they would be "a month or a month behind schedule".

Before questioning reporters, Biden outlined his various plans to eliminate inequality and restore the US economy.
