More than 70 dead in Ferry disaster in Iraq

The death toll in ferry accidents in the Tigris River in Mosul city of Iraq has reported that more than 70 people have been killed. Today, the ferry sank in the river on Thursday. Many passengers of the ferry could not swim to the shore. Locals say that the ferry had more than 100 passengers.
According to the BBC, many tourists were going to an island ferrying to celebrate the New Year of Kurdistan. According to Iraq's security forces, more passengers were rescued in the ferry. However, locals claimed that the number of deaths in the accident exceeded 70.
Iraq's Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said in a statement that the accident is very sad and painful. He has ordered all sections of the government to rescue the victims of the accident and take necessary action. The Iraqi prime minister also said that the full investigation of this incident has been ordered.
The authorities concerned said that the height of the water increased in the Tigris river for the last few days due to the opening of the embankment of Mosul. Passengers were warned about this. It is alleged that the Ferry driver ferries ignored this warning.
Meanwhile, some pictures of the accident have spread through social media. It has been found that many passengers floating in the river fluttering in the river and fierce river. It is learned that the ambulance and helicopter reached the spot, rescue operation continued.
In June 2014, Mosul occupied Islamic State (IS). ISOL has declared its own informal capital Mosul is free after the war of nearly nine months in July.
