The militant Islamic State (IS) in Syria's eastern region has emerged from several tunnels to surrender to several militant US-backed forces.
The news agency AFP reported that this incident occurred on Sunday after a day after declaration of the death of the alleged caliph.
The United States-backed Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Force (SDF) announced on Saturday that the IS has lost control of the entire region of Baghdad in Syria. Their so-called caliphate was completely destroyed.
Many people have come out of the remote Baghauj bastion near the Iraq border. Most of these people were male.
Kurdish spokesman Zaykar Ahmed said these men are IS fighters. They came out of different tunnels. They surrender.
The Kurds spokesman said the IS militants may still hide in the village of Baghawaz.
Thousands of foreign fighters have been caught in Syria in the war against the militant group. Others have expressed concern about the Kurds and others.
IS is described as a horrific threat to foreign militants captured in Syria. They have been urged to take any action on an urgent basis.
In 2014, a large part of Iraq and Syria has been declared as a caliphate by IS. Later, in the face of war on different sides, the IS was losing control of their occupied area. It is claimed that the loss of the caliphate has also fallen through the defeat of ISI in Baghaura.
